Don’t worry, be happy!
It is easier said than done...”Don’t worry!”
As a wife, a mother and a grandmother, worrying can be normal. We can worry ourselves into a tizzy. It starts from when our babies are little, we worry about their first fever to their first heartbreak to their firstborn being born. If you are like me, you have told your husband, your kids and even your grandkids numerous times “don’t worry” but then secretly hold onto the worry card.
But what exactly does worry accomplish?
Worry doesn’t pay the bills. Worry doesn’t make the sick well. Worry cannot heal a broken heart. Nor can it bring the prodigal back home. Worry really has no value.
Instead, worry becomes a crutch. It deflates our faith. It causes division in marriages. Worry makes healthy people sick. Worry is a silent killer that we all must be aware of.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus asks us why do we worry? “why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.” (Matthew 6:28)
For many of us, life is full of a lot more stress than our clothing. That is why in the previous verse, Jesus tells us to not worry about our life. That encompasses not only what goes on our body, but what goes in our body and everything else that we have little or no control over.
“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear, is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” -Matthew 6:25-27
I wonder what has you worried today? Would you take a moment and reflect on the person you are worried about, or the sickness that has you worried or that circumstance that you have lost sleep over and then ask yourself what Jesus asks…” can any of it add a single hour to your life?”
Instead of worrying about it, try praying about it. Worry will give you strife, while prayers will give life. Isn’t it time you start living?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to not worry about those things that I have no power over. I realize that when I worry, my worry begins to have power over me and that leaves me feeling powerless. God, fill me with Your power so I can live a life free of worry. AMEN
Now go and live your life without worry. Gods got this!!

Thank you for stopping by today Denise!
This is so on time! I have been worrying bad lately. I am glad to know I can give my worry to the Father. Blessings to you, Laurie!
Heather, I worry too but God’s shoulders are so much bigger than mine. May you feel His peace today. ((hugs))
Thank you so much for this timely post. When we worry we are taking time from praising and worshiping God, I need to always remember that. Blessings Gloria
