Faith to Believe…
The hem of His garment, that’s all it took, one touch and she was healed!
The woman who pressed in with the crowd around Jesus as he walked, knew if she could only touch his clothes, if she could reach the hem of his robe, she would be healed. She didn’t want to defile Him, she just wanted to be cured, to be whole, and clean again. She had been an outcast for so long, an untouchable. No one came near her for her flow of blood. From the day it began, she watched her life slowly leak away over twelve years; friends, neighbors, family, no one would touch her again. No one, until Jesus.
He was on His way to heal someone else; to bring a daughter back to life. When the crowd was pressing in, He felt something; someone. It wasn’t her frail hand He felt taking hold of the end of His garment, it was her faith. Her faith reached out and touched His robe and He knew it. He felt the grip of that faith lay hold of His healing power and heal her body, so much so that He stopped and turned around. He asked, “Who touched me?” His disciples thought the question odd since so many were pressing and pushing against their Master as they squeezed through the crowd, but His question was specific.
There was a “who” in the crowd that day and Jesus was aware of her. Jesus knows when faith is present and when it is not. He not only recognized it, but He was forever looking for it as He walked this earth. He looked for those who believed.
A touch, a look, or a word from Jesus changes everything when met with faith. We see it over and over again in His word. “Daughter, your faith has made you well.” Mark 5:34. That day faith healed in a touch what doctors could not for twelve years. And when Jesus resumed His course to the home of a father, faith showed up again and healed his daughter, raising her from the dead. The old and the young receiving back their lives.
Crowds gathered everywhere He went, bringing the sick to be healed. Looking for more than this world had to offer, looking for a healer and a Savior. Many were touched by Him. But there were those who could only get close enough to reach out and touch the hem of His garment, and they were also healed, because Jesus knew they believed, and their faith made them well.
“…that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.” Matt. 14:36
What difficulty are you now facing in life that needs a touch from the Savior?
Reach out to Him in prayer and take hold of the hem of His garment. He is still looking for those who have faith to believe.

“A touch, a look, or a word from Jesus changes everything when met with faith. .” Beautifully written, Charlotte.
I needed to read that this morning, Charlotte. I need to reach out to Him to heal my wounds and to keep me going, even though it seems impossible. Thank you for the reminder to reach out to Him in faith, my sweet friend.
