Family Reunion

Last weekend we had a big celebration for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. My brother and I had been planning it for months. Invitations, printed napkins, and flowers. Cake, old photos, and decorations. My sister-in-law planned a delicious buffet of finger foods. We worked towards, prepared for, and anticipated the big event.

When the day finally arrived, almost 150 friends, extended family, and neighbors attended. My parents thoroughly enjoyed themselves. And I had a blast! The best part for me – aside from parents’ obvious enjoyment – was seeing old family friends and family members I had not seen in years. I hugged and visited with aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of our family. My parents’ anniversary party was also a reunion for me!

But I have a much larger and greater reunion to look forward to. And you do too – if you are a follower of Christ. One day, at God’s appointed time, Jesus will return to claim all those who belong to Him. We will gather around the throne in heaven and together with all God’s family we will praise our Savior.

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” Rev 7:9-10, NIV

Will I see you there? Do you belong to the family of God? If not, don’t waste another day. Give your life to Jesus now.

I am looking forward to the day I see many friends I have never met this side of heaven. Oh, what a celebration and reunion it will be.

What a wonderful occasion to celebrate; a 50th anniversary. Congratulations to your parents. And yes, I too look forward to that wonderful celebration in heaven. I cannot wait to see Jesus and then all of my loved ones, including my mom.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

The reunion gives us such hope, to see our loved ones again and to finally meet Him face to face. It makes death bittersweet – such sorrow for the loss, such joy knowing where they are and Who they are with.

Family reunion is always refreshing. We just had ours for my in-laws this summer. I met people I didn’t know I was related to. On our eternal reunion, we will meet family members we don’t know as well. And, I can’t excited just thinking about it.
