Freedom!
Happy 4th Of July!
The day that all over America, people celebrate their freedom. We celebrate with hot dogs, parades, fireworks and wearing red, white and blue. Just doesn’t seem American to do anything less.
But freedom is not just about a day, or even about our country. Freedom is a choice that we each make. In Christ, we are free. Free from what?
Free from sin. Free from our daily grind. Free from unhealthy relationships. Free from expectations.
So many times, we allow things like the above mentioned to bind us, to keep us captives from being free. When God said that we are free in Him, He never intends for us to keep the shackles on. Even though we are all sinners, God gives us a way of escape. He gives us a freedom like no other. He cuts the chains that enslave us.
We live in a great country. Not only in the land of the free but we live in a country that we freely can live for Christ. But we have to choose just how free we want to be.
Joshua 24:15 “Choose ye this day whom you will serve.”
Today, is a good day to choose to be free!
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for setting me free, help me to remember the cost that was paid for me to be free. May I choose You and Your freedoms this day, and everyday after, AMEN.
Amen to that, Laurie. It is true that we have so many choices in this country; let one be to follow Jesus to set us truly free.
