Glorious One

Exodus 33:18-20

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

19 And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

“Show me Your glory.”

Moses had grit.

Isaiah stood before the glory of God in a vision and could not bear it.

John, when he had the vision at Patmos could not bear it.

Ezekiel had a vision of the glory of God, and could not bear it.

Moses had grit. He knew God was with him but he wanted to be sure God would be with them. He had stood before the glory of God in the desert. Now he longed to see Him face to face. Moses desired to know God better. True He could not see God’s face and live, but God longed to give Him the desire of His heart. God was pleased with Him.

Do you have grit? What do you desire of God? What is your inward longing? Ask Him. He is waiting.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
~Psalm 33:3-5

23In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. ~John 16:23-24

Lord, I come to You, the Glorious One, today. Lord, You know the desires of my heart, and the desires of each of these ladies hearts. Lord, we bring them before You, and ask that You would bless them. Place Your desires for us in our hearts. Lead us in the way You would have us go. Lord, we long to know You better, and find our joy in You. Lord, give us the grit to ask for the desires of our hearts.

    Wouldn’t it be something if we would just ask Him to show us His glory? I know He would should it to us — I am not sure why I am afraid to ask…
    Thank you for sharing your thoughts this morning. Blessings on your day and always.

    I want to have more grit but I feel so overwhelmed with His glory that my knees buckle at the very thought.

    Show me your glory. It is an awesome thought, but one I know my mind can not comprehend. Just the fact the men in the bible recieved glimpes, it awesome. I think of the Mount of Transfiguation, before Jesus was about to die. John was there also, but I don’t think he comprehended all that was going on. SHOW ME YOUR GLORY LORD. (sorry a little rambling, but this is beautiful.)

    Awesome.

    I really have never thought about Moses showing grit. I like this… I think I glimps a tiny portion of God and His glory in the everyday. A flower, the storm clouds in the sky this morning. GLORIOUS!!
    Neat!

    I suppose Moses showed grit because in really seeing God’s glory we must see the depravity of ourselves. It would take grit to stand there. Great post.
