God Has a Plan
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV
Disappointment can come in many forms. It is when we let God’s plan unfold from that we see his hand at work.
In the Spring, my daughter ran for an officer position in her Youth In Government club. She thought she was a sure win. She had come back from State Assembly winning a prestigious award, has been in club longest, is extermly passionate about the program and was very qualified to help lead her club. Needless to say, she was simply devastated when she lost her first election.
As we talked through her heartache, we discussed a few reasons why this would have happened. The first reason was rather obvious. If she plans to seek a career in the cutthroat politics of Washington, D.C., she needs to be prepared for loss along the way. We also discussed something better coming along and learning to wait on God’s timing and allowing God’s plan to work out. We talked about being gracious to the winners and jumping back in and helping anyway, even if it is as a simple member and not a leader.
After a couple of days of being sad and hurt, she plunged full force back into her club coordinating a pool party and a letter drive for a former YIG member now at West Point. After a few weeks, the newley elected officers’ announced that they were going to create a Hospitality Chair position and encouraged her to apply. She did and she won. The funny thing is she was beginning to do the things a Hospitality Chair would do anyway, without the title and without the position. She discovered even beyond the typical President, VP, Secretary or Treasurer position that there was something she was even better at and a better fit. She just had to wait on the plan that God had laid out.
Now she is full force into planning social events for the next year for her club and enjoying every moment. God certainly knew what he was doing when she lost that race back in the Spring. Now she is in a position that is a perfect fit for her and she learned a valuable lesson. Wait on God.
Isn’t that the hardest lesson though? Stepping back and waiting on the Lord to do what only he can do. This was a simple example and I do realize that life has much harder and much more heartbreaking circumstances to go through. Job loss. Illness. Marital issues. Finances. The 2016 Election.
Still, there can be some comfort in knowing God does have a plan. He isn’t blindsided by anything that we go through. He knows it all and he knows how it will all play out.
I love the words to Lauren Daigle’s Song, “Trust in You.” It reminds me that God knows our outcome and trusting in Him to bring his plan to fruition is the cornerstone of our faith.
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There’s not a day ahead You have not seen
So, in all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing lessWhen You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!You are my strength and comfort
You are my steady hand
You are my firm foundation; the rock on which I standYour ways are always higher
Your plans are always good
There’s not a place where I’ll go, You’ve not already stood
So today, no matter what your circumstance that you are facing, trust in the Lord and know he has gone before you and his ways are perfect.
In Christ Alone,

Thank you, Dana. Words I needed to read today.
What a powerful message to wait on God and His timing.
Congratulations on your daughter’s success within her volunteer work.
