Have Faith in God

Do you find yourself getting discouraged waiting on the Lord at times? It seems as if His ears are deaf to your prayers. No matter how much you pray or how patient you try to be in waiting, the one thing that you’ve been holding faith for just isn’t happening.

I was talking to a friend lately about some good news I had heard. It was something I knew she had been praying about and it seemed like it was going to work out for her. I thought she’d be happy, however she was discouraged because she had gotten her hopes up before and had been disappointed. I encouraged her to continue to have faith. I told her that it may be taking longer than she thought it should but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. Having faith means believing that it will work out even when it seems impossible.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 | NIV

When I spoke to my friend a few days later she told me that she was still in waiting mode, but she was hopeful. She had a newfound peace about the situation and she had faith that God was going to work it out.

Most of us have something that we are waiting on God for. Sometimes it’s hard to have faith that it’s going to work out when it seems like He’s taking such a long time, but we must. The times when you feel most discourage remind yourself of the many times you prayed, and God answered. Remind yourself of the times He came through just in the nick of time. Know that He hasn’t forgotten you.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 | NIV

God is showing me that the ability to wait without panic for the answer is a special grace in itself. Thank you for the reminder.

Sometimes it is so hard to be in the waiting mode. I sometimes wonder if my prayer just hit the ceiling, and God doesn’t hear. Thank you for the encouragement to have faith.

I feel the same way sometimes, Iris. I love Laurie’s reminder that, “God knows what’s best for me and He knows when I’m ready.”

Waiting is the hardest. If we get impatient in the fast food line, waiting on a prayer request will be even harder. I always try to remember that God knows what’s best for me and He knows when I’m ready.

“I always try to remember that God knows what’s best for me and He knows when I’m ready.” So true, Laurie. Just what I needed to hear.
