In Your Waiting

Waiting has to be one of the hardest things to do, especially if you are under the age of six! This past weekend we took our two grandsons to church with us, they are 5 and 3. As we got into the car after church and were on our way to the restaurant, the 5 year old proclaims, “Why does it take so long to get to the restaurant?”

Most parents would probably agree that the last thing their children want to hear is, “you have to wait” or “not now, ask me later”! The frustration of having to wait can be the same for God’s children. In fact, having to wait for an adult can be worse. We have been programmed that everything happens with a blink of an eye or at least with the touch of a finger electronically, everything we ever wanted can be instantly obtained.

While society makes every attempt to make our life easier and even faster, God doesn’t always operate the same way. He sees nothing wrong with waiting. In fact, waiting can actually be a positive thing for His children.

While we wait, God is working.

I  can look back on some of my “waiting” periods in life and while it wasn’t comfortable to be in that holding pattern, I can see that God made me idle so that He could prepare me for what was ahead. It reminds me of coming up on a red light in traffic. We obey the red stop sign because we know if we proceed forward it could place us smack in the middle of a crash. God’s stop signs aren’t always a roadblock to our prayers, instead, it is just a little detour until God clears the traffic that is in the way.

My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Are you in a holding pattern over something right now? Stop and wait upon the Lord. Not only will He renew your strength but He is also working on making a clear path for you.

BLESSINGS. Laurie

Yes, waiting can be hard for us. I have to fix my eyes above, because I know that God is working until traffic is clear (love that analogy).
