It’s Friday but Sunday’s a-Comin’!
Today is Good Friday. I have always wondered what in the world was good about it. Black Friday is the name I would ascribe if Webster consulted me.
Flashbacks of Mel Gibson’s movie disturb my thoughts. It took me eight months to gain the courage to finally watch this film. I watched it alone with a glass of wine and wept the entire two hours.
What is good about Good Friday? I had to know. My searching led me to the root of the original phrase, God’s Friday. Aaaaaah, the gloom is lifting.
It is God’s day. God’s amazing redemptive plan of love is beyond my scope of full understanding. Jesus died this day to seal our freedom. He came to set the captives free. We are the captives and many of us are still detained in a black dungeon of hopelessness. We are living in our own Black Friday, fighting to survive, waiting for our protector to arrive.
This week alone I have gone to the Throne Room often pleading for my sisters who are locked away in this dark place. They are stuck in a loveless marriage or are paralyzed with a relentless depression or…or….or…. The list is lengthy and formidable. Many have languished there for years.
I was caged in this dark valley for a long time as well. My marriage appeared to be locked in a spiral of hurt and disappointment. But, my Deliverer arrived on the worst of black Fridays. He swept me up and out of the cauldron of defeat. He declared Himself my Champion and whisked me into the light. Jesus is my Resurrection Sunday!
My marriage is healed by the supernatural power of Jesus Christ and His perfect love. Marriage – Redeemed!
Every miserable wrong of my past – REDEEMED!
Every single thought, word, and deed. – Redeemed!
Every wrong I experienced against me – Redeemed.
John 10:10b I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
He means it. Jesus died that we may live life to the full, today.
You may be living in Black Friday today, your marriage lost in the depths of hopelessness……. but Sunday’s a-comin’.
You job is bleak and you toil feeling all the darkness of Friday around you every day………….but Sunday’s a-comin’.
You wake every morning wondering if the black depression will ever lift….. Sunday’s a-comin’.
You were betrayed to the core by someone you trusted with your heart…..Sunday’s a-comin’.
Revelation 1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
Jesus will redeem every black Friday!
Hold on tight, Sunday is coming. Jesus is coming. It’s a promise.
He is our strength, He is our victory, He is our HOPE.
HE IS RISEN. REJOICE! THE LAMB OF GOD IS RISEN!
- Struggling
- Still He Walked
