Lay Your Burdens Down
In some seasons of life I can get so weary and tired. Situations or circumstances overwhelm me and I’m stressed to the max. I’m natural at worrying and that only worsens the problem. I love God’s Word though and how it can apply to anything in our life. No matter what the situation is, the Word of God can be used to help us through it. It’s always reliable and always comforting.
God wants your burdens; He wants my burdens. He will carry your load if you allow Him to. I find this out the hard way at times. I dwell on an issue until that’s my primary focus. I will worry about what I need to do or what I should have done, trying to analyze every little thing. When I finally give it to the Lord, I feel much better. I’m learning to give it all to Him. He knows what’s going on better than I do, so why not talk to Him about it?
When I worry, it won’t change the situation at all. It will only rob me of precious time with which I could be doing something else. If I worry about it, then I’m not giving God the chance to speak to me and to teach me whatever He desires at the moment. There is always an opportunity to learn something during each season of life. We just have to be listening to the Holy Spirit and follow his instructions. We are called not to worry for anything, but in all things pray and give supplication and thanks to God. That can be very hard to do, but truly surrendering to the Lord by laying the burden at His feet is best. Sometimes I have to give it to Him multiple times because I continue to worry about it again.
There is so much in the world that can weigh us down and cause us to be heavy laden. Even if you are going through a good season in life, just watching the news can make you worry. It can me! We have a Savior who knows about burdens. He had burdens just like we do. He walked this life in human flesh. He knows just how you feel. He says in Matthew 11:29-30: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” So go to him and tell him all your worries. Let him know just what’s on your heart and mind. He cares for you and wants to make your yoke light. We don’t have to worry about things when we are in God’s hands. He will take care of us.
Lord, thank You for taking my burden. Thank You for knowing just how I feel when things get stressful. May I lean upon You when things overwhelm or worry me. Help me not to worry over issues in this life, but to look to You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. May I stay focused on You and seek Your peace in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
