Lean On Him…
“Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.” ~ Psalm 33:3-5 (ESV)
Last week as I was visiting Blogs for Wordless Wednesday, I came across the below poem on Barbara’s Blog (yes – I do read sometimes more than just the memes 🙂 — Thanks Barbara for allowing me to use it here):
What is faith? It is believing
That God’s promises are true;
Gladly taking what He offers,
Knowing that it is for you.What is faith? ‘Tis simply trusting,
Leaning on the Mighty One;
Putting all your weight upon Him,
Yielding all to Him alone.What is rest? ‘Tis faith reclining
In the Everlasting Arms;
Doubts removed and burdens banished,
Perfect peace amid alarms.—Author Unknown
Yes, I believe that God’s promises are true. Just think about how He promised us to send a Savior in the book of Genesis.
Yes, I gladly took His offer to take my sin and nail it to the cross. This offer is not only for me, but for all who allow His Holy Spirit to enter in, so that they may also believe.
Yes, I trust my Lord to soothe my soul when I am burned out and need His healing touch on my heart. I gladly lean on Him to carry me through the rough times.
Yes, I put all my burdens at the foot of the cross and leave them there. I don’t want to carry them with me anymore.
Yes, I love to sit in His lap so He can wrap this mighty arms around me and rock me to sleep when I am anxious. Only in His love I can grow to love the people around me, especially the ones that are unlovable…
How about you? Do you allow Him to carry your burdens? Or do you rather carry them yourself? It is much easier with Him, don’t you agree?
Lord of Heaven and Earth. You are almighty. You want to be part of our daily life. Lord, help us to lean on You alone when when our burdens are getting heavy. Keep us close to Your heart that we may share the love You have for us with those around us. We are trusting in Your mercy. We pray in the precious name of Jesus ~ Amen…

We have talked about anxiety at church the last two weeks. How we shouldn’t be anxious but trust in the Lord.
I really started trusting God more and more a few years ago and it is amazing how your faith grows when you start handing things over to him. Now I can’t imagine how anyone can live without the comfort of the Lord watching over them.
Great thoughts, Iris.
As a “survivor” type, I know I try to carry my own burdens more often than not. Also, as a person who looks the world full in the face, I tend to take many things on my own shoulders. I was thinking last night that, even though there is a good side to my tendencies, I need to rest in his arms. Sweet rest. Thanks for the gentle reminder.
Great morning devotional, thank you.
Much needed, though today is better than yesterday. All to Thee my precious Savior, I surender all. Yup, exactly what I need to do today. Thank you.
I needed this today! Thank you Iris! {{{hugs}}}
Love the word picture of reclining in the everlasting arms….nice.

I do need this today. I really want to turn my burdens over to the Lord. I also love the word picture of us sitting with His arms wrapped around us. Thank you.
What a beautiful poem. Would we all love to write poetry like that? You’ve offered some lovely images to go along with it: sitting in His lap, leaving a burden, healing from burnout. Yes, He does all those things for us! Aren’t we SO blessed?
I love ‘leaning on the Everlasting Arms’…don’t you? Thank you for these beautiful thoughts today, and your reminder of His everloving watchcare.
Oh, I allow Him to help me all right! I know I would not be able to handle them on my own. Yet, in Him I find a capacity within myself I didn’t know I had. In Him I find that all things are possible, even ME!
Iris,
I love to climb up into the arms of Christ!! This is a great reminder!! Love and hugs to you my friend!! Lynn
Iris,
Where did you get this beautiful picture. 🙂
