Let Creation Testify
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Psalm 19:1
Last week, our family had the opportunity to take vacation in the Florida panhandle. We spent several beautiful days at the beach enjoying natural sand dunes, emerald clear water and seeing gorgeous sting rays, dolphins and even a shark.
After spending some days at the beach, we headed over to the Florida Caverns. I only recently learned that Florida even had caverns. For years, I had tried to work in a trip to a cavern in Virginia or Tennessee, not realizing we had our own cave right here in the Sunshine State. The cave truly was beautiful. There were such intricate designs and formations from the underground limestone. We thoroughly enjoyed our ranger led hike through the caverns.
Something that stood out to me though was this. The Park Rangers tried to explain how Florida, which is barely above sea level, could have developed caves. They even went as far as to say that at “one time,” Florida was completely covered by water. Once the water receded, the limestone formations underground took shape, thus the caves were created. To me, that explanation sounds an awful lot like a worldwide flood, the one we know of in the book of Genesis. I’m not certain the caves were formed from the flood waters of Noah’s time, they could have very well been created at the time of creation. Either way, God’s hand was involved in it. His creation, and the beautiful things he created as a part of it testify to His existence. No one can be without excuse in knowing we have a creator God.
The Bible affirms this. Romans 1:20 says,
For his invisible attribute, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
While we may all come from different walks of life, ethnicity, family backgrounds and geographical locations – one thing is always the same. God’s amazing creation testifies to his glory.
Take a moment to look around you today, right where you are. Where can you see God’s fingerprint in creation? He has whatever problem you are facing. The God who so beautifully designed this world can certainly handle your fears, struggles, suffering and tears.
My husband lost his job on Monday. It has been a crazy week trying to figure out our game plan. My tendency is to worry, pout and go into hiding. Even though I know the truth, it is still hard to let go and believe. Yet, even afraid, I am praying for our creator God to take this burden as well and guide us and take away unbelief. And when I struggle with unbelief, I can look at His creation and be instantly reminded of His glory.

Dana, thanks for sharing. I too find much joy and refreshment in creation. Even though I live in an urban area, Jersey City, there is a cemetery next door, and I’m so glad to have even that little bit of “nature” nearby. I pray that your husband will soon be working again, and that God will minister to both of you through this “unplanned” transition.
Blessings,
Oh Dana, I am so, so sorry that your husband lost his job. Trusting God that will give you peace during this time.
You are right; we often run through life without seeing the beauty around us.
