Life Is Not Easy
“When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?”
(Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)
Seriously, life can be hard and very discouraging. Where can we put our trust? In God!
Sometimes it feels like that God is far away! But guess what? It is not God who has moved, it is you/me.
By best friend and I meet up for coffee once a month since we no longer work at the same company. A couple weekends ago, we met again for our monthly coffee at 6:15am. Yes, it is early, but that way we can share from our heart and then we have the entire day with our families.
The time my friend and I spend together is always uplifting for both of us. We both need to share from the heart and we know that what is being said during our time together will stay between the two of us.
The best thing is that we can share our struggles when we feel that God is not moving in our lives. But we both admitted that He is moving for our good. We may not see it at the time, but looking back, we see His mighty hand on all of our endeavors.
I often think of Joseph’s story. He had lofty dreams and was enjoying his family when he shared those dreams with them. Joseph’s brothers could no longer take his talk about his dreams, so they sold him off to Egypt. He even ended up in prison (Genesis 39).
One thing that really strikes me with Joseph’s story is that he always trusted God. He knew that God was with him, no matter what happened in his life. Joseph had really dark moments, but he never lost his faith.
I want to be shaped by my trust in God. Looking back through my life, I know that God has shaped me with His love and grace. In 2017 I will be making an intentional effort to surrender it all to God. I know that there are still areas in my life that I have not fully surrendered.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
(Romans 8:37 ESV)
Lord of mercy and grace. Thank you for Your mighty hand in my life. Lord, help me to trust You with every step I take. Through Your guidance, I can conquer all things. I am trusting You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
