Living Thankful
I got up around 3’ish this morning… (the morning of this writing). Cooking – not – on my brain…but hearing what my Lord would have to say.
I feel like sometimes my spiritual ears get stopped up–so I wanted some quiet time before the house woke. I have been thinking on the “food” commercials–every time they come on I find myself thinking back to visiting places and people who would run all day for the leftovers from our tables…oh my soul.
The waste of our lives is indeed the banquet of another.
I want to think of them–of their table this year. I have too long taken for granted that food is a never ending commodity –but it’s not. It is ending…and has ended for millions in various places in the world.
I love the privilege of sitting down to a nice table–and having my mother close by–there are those who no longer have that privilege. I won’t overlook that honor. I am thankful.
I love the cherished memories that we will tuck away of how she set her table and how each one of us return to our assigned seats, year after year. They aren’t really assigned, but actually a sweet habit that we fell into.
But this year–while I’m enjoying my family–I hope to think of these that dwell here–and pray for them.
I want to pray for them–because they matter to me. I’m sure they matter to you as well. Will you help me pray?
I hope you enjoy your loved ones this Thanksgiving…and hug them up close. If you can’t be with them in person, be sure you call. That phone call will mean so much later on.
If you think about it, make a “thankful list”…and share it around the table. For me– I just like to listen to the conversation flow…take part now and then. Here’s a snapshot of my mother’s house. The adults- sit in the “official dining room”. Notice how those kids–who used to sit at the kitchen bar–now sit at the “young adult” table? And how “their kids” now sit at the bar and the “kids table” stationed in the hallway near the kitchen? Our cup runneth over.
Mother puts tables wherever she can–so that everyone has a place…the wonderful thing is the memories made around those very tables. Conversations. Love. Laughter.
Thankfulness.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 NIV (emphasis mine)
Find a place today and thank Him…and watch how your eyesight –mindset–and heart changes to reflect Christ…
Happy thanksgiving to all our faithful reader! We are blessed by your continued presence.
All for Him,
Angie Knight

Amen, Angie. Thankfulness starts in the heart and I pray that it floods my entire body. I am so thankful for many things, but one in particular: Christ’s love for all.
