Where Love Grows Best

Do you grow real plants in your home? I do. Lots of them. In my garden window, a couple heart-shaped ivies find their home all year long. I prune them on purpose so they will do what I want: remind me of love where I need it most, in my kitchen. Yeah, I admit I’m not fond of cooking, cleaning my fridge or scrubbing the dishes.

Speaking of plants, I love this red geranium sitting in this shop window in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This lone flower needed water, but it bloomed anyway, thanks to the light.

I long to be like this blooming flower. When I get dry, I want to know which way to lean. Towards the light. But I’m often stagnant, thirsty and withering in the dark.

This is the first summer in years that I’ve committed to a seven week Bible study at church. Why? Because I’m thirsty.  I need the accountability and friendships. And I especially need the water of God’s Word. Reading the book of Nehemiah. will be life to my dry heart. I believe my faith roots will grow as I soak up the truth and bask in His light.

And who knows, I may even bloom.

Care to join me in soaking up the Son this summer?

Love grows best in His light.

The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine on us. Psalm 118:27

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. John 1:4

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) Ephesians 5:8-9

Q4U: How do you allow God’s love to bloom in you?

Excited to hear about your growth!

Are you using a book during this study of Nehemiah or only the Bible? I am looking for a good study book on this man as God had laid him on my heart and I keep reading the book of Nehemiah over and over.

I love flowers but they do not love me. I tend to kill any kind of plant I try to grow. It seems like I either give it too much sun or not enough. Im glad that spiritually that we can never have too much of His light. I know I need it to thrive. Thanks for a great devo! 🙂
