May all your Christmases be bright!

As I sit here, I look around and see the remnants of Christmas. Torn open gift boxes in the corner. Strands of ribbon on the floor. Christmas tree standing in the dark. Half empty cookie tins. Most years, I have already packed things up and cleaned up by now.

But here it is two days after Christmas, and I still have not undecorated our house from Christmas. As I look down the road, I see alot of other folks have not undecorated either. Lights still on. Trees still blinking. Wreaths still hung.

It is strange that I am still hanging onto Christmas, in years past, I have always packed it away by Christmas night. Afterall, according to the commercial point of view, Christmas is over with on December 24th. But, for me, there is something keeping me from packing away Christmas yet.

Have you ever wondered when the right time is to actually put Christmas away?

According to the well known Christmas song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, December 25th marks the beginning of Christmas. So wouldn’t that mean Christmas isn’t actually over until January 5th?

John 1:14 says..”And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth”.

Christmas reflects the miracle of Jesus and His love, His grace and His peace. We all sing “Joy to the World” and “All is calm, all is bright” when we sing “Silent Night” at Christmas but I wonder why we only sing these songs once a  year?

I dont know about you, but I would rather keep Christmas alive year round. Actually, from the spiritual point of view, Christmas should never end. Instead of packing up Christmas, we should all be striving to pack our life full of Christmas.

So, whatever day you choose to start packing away the decorations and tinsel, make sure that you do not pack away your faith or your joy or your calmness and brightness…make Christmas your way of life, and not just a day of the year.

May all of  your Christmases (yes, all 365 days of them) be bright!

Amen to that, Laurie. We should celebrate Christmas 365 years of the day in our heart and share that with the world.

Dear Laurie, you are so correct, we should be excited about the birth of the WORD, as Baby Jesus every day, every moment of our lives, thank you for reminding me of that, Blessings Gloria
