Morning Chat
“When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?”
(Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)
Seriously, life can be hard and very discouraging. Where can we put our trust? In God!
Sometimes it feels like that God is far away! But guess what? It is not God who has moved, it is you/me.
By best friend and I meet up for coffee once a month since we no longer work at the same company. This past weekend we met again for our monthly coffee at 6:15am. Yes, it is early, but that way we can share from our heart and then we have the entire day with our families.
The time my friend and I spend together is always uplifting for both of us. We both need to share from the heart and we know that what is being said during our time together will stay between the two of us.
The best thing is that we can share our struggles when we feel that God is not moving in our lives. But we both admitted that He is moving for our good. We may not see it at the time, but looking back, we see His mighty hand on all of our endeavors.
I often think of Joseph’s story. He had lofty dreams and was enjoying his family when he shared those dreams with them. Joseph’s brothers could no longer take his talk about his dreams, so they sold him off to Egypt. He even ended up in prison (Genesis 39).
One thing that really strikes me with Joseph’s story is that he always trusted God. He knew that God was with him, no matter what happened in his life. Joseph had really dark moments, but he never lost his faith.
I want to be shaped by my trust in God. Looking back through my life, I know that God has shaped me with His love and grace. This year I am making an intentional effort to surrender it all to God. I know that there are still areas in my life that I have not fully surrendered.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
(Romans 8:37 ESV)
Lord of mercy and grace. Thank you for Your mighty hand in my life. Lord, help me to trust You with every step I take. Through Your guidance, I can conquer all things. I am trusting You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!

There are no neutral moments! A saying from a pastor of our church who’s retired, and now has a podcast named after that saying. This morning I was reflecting on life. I think about all sorts of things, but I was thinking about the old saying “put your money where your mouth is.” Well it lead me down a thought of what’s my heart “laced with.” I was thinking I hope it’s laced with grace. (Not the flesh Gal 5:19) I bet there’s a book about it. A Google search lead me here. Isaiah 25:1 Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. Isn’t God amazing! Thank you for this post. I hope you continue to do the work God has planned in your life. Isaiah 25:9 in that day they will say, “ surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” May your day be laced with grace. God bless
Iris, such a beautiful post today and a wonderful reminder that we too have such a friend like yours who will meet with us early in the morning or anytime of the day to listen and to encourage us. I’m so thankful that I have a Friend in Jesus!
Thank God for our closest friend Jesus and our confidants we can share our cares with.
I love how you keep up with your best friend this way. It’s so important to have a friend to share and discuss life with–the good, bad, and the ugly. Someone to pray with. Thank you for this encouraging post.
