On Sabbath

A long time ago, God gave man the Sabbath – a day of rest. Today, we have our weekends, but we manage to fill them up and make them just as busy as the rest of the week.

This last week I was was intending to “Sabbath” – not a day of rest, but a time of rest.  But…we managed to fill it up and keep quite busy.  It was a great family time and I don’t regret a second of it.  But it was not a time of rest.

And I need that.  Yesterday and today I truly rested (so much so that I forgot it was my day to post).

If we don’t take care to follow God’s rhythm of work and rest, we begin to have problems – in the modern world we call it “stress”.  Our mind becomes numb and our bodies suffer.  God designed us to take a break now and then.

This is another short post, I have the rest of this day to Sabbath and I feel energized.

God bless you all.

You know the “spam” word I had to type in was “grace”. And honey we all NEED those days of rest. Sometimes we do fill it up too much, God intends for us to rest and to rest in HIM.

Blessings, hope you had a day of refreshment.

I know what you mean, my dear Ellen 🙂 – I have done the same thing. Rushing, rushing and got up on a Saturday morning in a panic because I thought I had to go to work.

Thank you for still remembering today. I do hope that you still had time to rest this afternoon.

Blessings to your week and always…

    Ellen-

This is so true! My husband and I have started resting on Sunday’s after church. It is so rejuvenating not to run around all weekend!

    Blessings to you-

We are wise to follow the Lord’s plan in everything we do. I know when I let life become too busy, I eventually pay the price. This was a good reminder. God estabished the sabbath for our good.
