Peaks and Valleys
This summer was one of peaks and valleys for me and my husband – emotionally, spiritually and physically. My dear mother died at the end of July and that was a deep valley for my family. There were also peaks, a short trip to Laguna Beach, time in Denver with my brother, and a trip to visit the biggest tree in the world, General Sherman.
Driving through Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park one traverses many peaks and valleys- just like our lives. Sometimes all is well, we are enjoying good health, ministry is thriving, bank accounts are full, children are successful . . . Then there are the valleys- death, debt, despair.
Thank God He does not abandon us in the valleys. He is just as present, and often more so, when our lives are in turmoil.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
