Planning and Preparation Time
There is one thing that I do that helps immensely with my weekly morning routine ~ I prepare the night before! Instead of waiting until morning to figure out what to wear or what to make for lunch, I spend a few minutes the night before packing snacks and ironing my clothes. This little bit of planning and preparation time cuts down on my morning rush.
The art of being prepared is not limited to morning routines. We are wise to prepare for other times in our life that may suddenly surface from out of nowhere. Times of financial crisis or an unexpected health issue can catch us off guard, especially if we are not prepared for it.
I am reminded of the story from my childhood of the grasshopper and ant. During the summer, the ant was busy preparing food for the winter to come while the grasshopper spent his time playing his fiddle and dancing the summer days away. When winter came, the ant was well taken care of while the grasshopper had nothing.
While life can come with many unexpected events that no matter how much we try, we simply cannot be prepared for, like untimely deaths and/or accidents and broken relationships. But, like the ant and the grasshopper, we all have the ability (and the choice) of making preparations for what is to come.
One way that we can prepare for the trials and calamities ahead is to do what the ant did, prepare for the next season. While none of us knows what lies ahead in the next season of life, we do know that God will see us through it. Instead of waiting for the season to come to do anything about it, why not begin prepping and planning for what may be percolating ahead of time. If you want to get ahead of some of those unplanned, unknown events headed your way, begin your plan of attack by praying now about it. Begin to set your attack plan in motion now for those unkind mishaps that are going to happen. Claim your victory now before the battle begins.
”For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Let’s begin our prep work now, for a new season is upon us.

Thank you for the reminder to prepare out hearts for the next season. Yes, we may not know what lies ahead, but God does.
I guess I’m a preparer too… but I depend on God for the unexpected curve balls.
