Potential In Jesus

” I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

                                                                                            Psalm 139: 14a (NAS)

I planted a flower garden last spring, and it gave me endless delight.  From the moment I placed them in the ground, I gave each tiny plant the best care I knew how to give.  I provided water, food and protection – and was amply rewarded as, first tiny buds appeared and then, the lovely delicate and fragrant blooms.

As I looked at them, I thought about how these tiny perfumed bundles of beauty were content to be just what they were intended to be.  They didn’t struggle to be something else, thinking that perhaps it would be more glorious to be a peach tree or more fulfilling to be a tomato plant.  They simply realized their own potential and were a special joy and blessing just as they were.

How wonderful if each of us could be like those lovely flowers.  Instead of wishing we were more like someone else we admire or waiting until be become something we think we ought to be – we could bloom right now in all that God has uniquely created us to be.  And think how we would delight His heart.

Our gracious Heavenly Father has given each of us everything we need to be all that He intended us to be.  He has created every one of us unique and special – full of potential.  We are blessed and a blessing as we fulfill God’s purpose in our lives.

Father, thank You for creating each of us unique and special, and for Your tender care.  Help us to be all that You would have us to be – so that we may be used by You and for You.

What a precious reminder. There is a reason we were made the way we were, to be in the place we are, planted here for this season in time by the Master Gardener.

    Wow, Linda,

I have often thought about this. The natural world is a perfect reflection of God’s perfect creation. A Flower brings honor and glory to God when it is simply a flower, same with a tree….. I think the Lord delights when one of His children finally realizes who they are in Him and finds contentment and happiness in this knowledge. Great post.!

    Linda,
What an encouraging word! I want to be and bring forth the fruit of the Spirit just as God has fashioned me to be. This was beautiful!

    Well, Linda,
This is about the 20th time in the last few weeks that the Lord has said this to me. And you said it so very well. Can you IMAGINE a flower STRAINING to be a bush? I can be so silly sometimes.

Thank you for an excellent word in due season for me!

    Love,
