Seasons of Love
This is still the “week” of love right?
I mean, I used to love Secretaries Day, and I felt like it should be celebrated “all week long”. I sort of even convinced my boss of that a few times. So I’m calling the whole week, “Love Week”. (Does it mean we get more candy and cards?–well that depends entirely on the giver!)
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)
There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to rebuild. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to lose. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak up. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.
In reading this passage last week, the Lord reminded me that the seasons of our lives in love may sometimes collide, just as Spring collides and overlaps Summer. Sometimes we feel that Spring only lasts a couple of weeks, and the blast of Summer’s heat is upon us in fervency!
The seasons of our love is similar. We may segue from the season of butterflies in the stomach and sweaty palms of newly weds to the season of burping babies and changing diapers and forget how we even got to this point! It almost seemed that way for us. One year we were just two–the next year our lives were vastly different.
The next seasons seemed to follow suit fairly steady, then it seemed we were grandparents and still parents at the same time. Whoa! Then came the hormones…wait. Wasn’t that supposed to wait until at least 60? Hmmm. Someone has messed with my seasons of life here.
But do you know what I found? I found God to still be God. In the Springtime of love as well as the Autumn. He reminded me that He is the Lord God and He changes not (Malachai 3:6), and that no matter how many seasons of life changes I had, HE was still on His throne.
We can trust Him to hold us and our love for one another secure. We can trust Him to lead us to paths of righteousness for His namesake. We can trust Him to take us all the way Home. No matter what season of life that may happen. He is faithful.
- What season are you in?
- Do you feel the temperature changing for the next one?
Lean in and TRUST Him. He has a plan–and it’s for your good! (Jeremiah 29:11)

Angie, I love your post as soon as I got up this morning I came in to read it. God has given you the gift of words like no one else, Love mama Doodle
Powerful message, Angie. You are right, life seems to fly past us. As you said God will be on the throne and in control no matter which season of life we are in.
