Thankful Every Day

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. ~ Psalm 9:1-2 (ESV)

Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving here in the United States. This celebration is fairly new to me. You see I didn’t grow up with this particular holiday. Although we do have something similar in Germany; the celebration is called Ernte Dank Fest, which celebrates a successful harvest for the farmers.

I think that it is a nice sentiment to come together with family and friends, being thankful. As I have mentioned before, this year has been a year of a roller-coaster ride. Let me tell you, I don’t like roller-coasters; I always turn green (literally) when I ride one. However, no matter what life throws at me, I am thankful. As my sweet friend Linda shared on Monday in her post “In Everything, Give Thanks”, we ought to be thankful in every circumstance.

For one thing, we can be thankful that God is with us, and has us reconciled to Himself through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

As we are moving in to the season of Advent, let us be thankful every day for the big and small blessings in our life. Share your thankfulness with the ones around you by telling the wonderful deeds the Lord has done in your life.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. ~ 1 Peter 2:9-10 (ESV)

Lord of Heaven and Earth. Thank You for Your wonderful deeds in my life. Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Help me to share Your love, grace and mercy with others. In the precious name of Jesus – Amen

    Yes Iris! I once heard that when we harvest a grateful heart that it won’t be hard to be thankful for the hard times because being thankful has already been rooted in us. That’s how I want to be, grateful for everything, all of the time.

    Very nice! My husband lived in Germany with his family in ’65, ’66’ and ’67 when he was in the Army…. went from their to Vietnam. That was with his late wife. He really liked Germany. I love the name of this blog. “Laced with Grace”. Where would we be with His Grace in our lives.
