The Choices we Make
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10 ESV)
Do you sometimes wonder what life would have been if you have made different choices when you were younger? I contemplated on it this past week as I was listing to MercyMe’s song “Welcome to the New…” One of the songs is talking about if we could go back to tell ourselves that there will be heartaches that will make us into the ones we are now.
I have made some choices in the past that may have not been the best. However, they got me to a point where I realized that I needed God in my life. I truly believe that if life would have been all sunshine, I maybe would not the person I am today.
Through my hurts and pains, God spoke very loudly that I needed to change. I needed to take the eyes off of myself and my wants, to be become pliable to be His vessel. Of course my life is still not be perfect, but I know that if I am in a valley I will look up to Him and ask for His guidance, strength and peace.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2 ESV)
Lord of Heaven and Earth. Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light through the blood of Jesus. Lord, I have made bad choices in my life, but You have used them to make me who I am today. Please continue to mold me in way that will be useful to You and for Your glory. In the precious name of my Lord and Savior, in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

That is so true, Iris! He takes it all and molds us for His glory. Wonderful post!
Beautiful post, Iris. This reminds me of Andrae Crouch’s song, Through it all.
I’ve had many tears and sorrows,
I’ve had questions for tomorrow,
There’s been times I didn’t know right from wrong:
But in every situation God gave blessed consolation
That my trials come to only make me strong.
