THE MESSAGE

“And the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord.'” Luke 2:10,11 (NAS)

The Message

There were some who heard the message
On that dark and lonely night.
Shepherds poor and humble
Whose hearts beat wild with fright.
As glory filled the heavens
And angels sang with joy,
They bowed with sweet acceptance,
Went to find the baby boy.

There was one who heard the message
Who sat upon a throne.
He listened to the Wise Men
With heart as cold as stone.
The story of a baby born King of the Jews
Was to this proud and evil man
Unwelcome, fearful news.

We too have heard the message.
It echoes down through time
Simple and unchanging
To hearts like yours and mine.
The Savior of the world has come
To set the sinner free,
And we, like kings and shepherds,
Must reject Him or receive.

Unto us a Son is given! The Savior has come – a priceless gift of love from the heart of a loving Father. He came, knowing the cost, and paid it in full. He has done it all, and we have but to receive, with deepest gratitude, the gift wrapped in grace.

We can, like the shepherds, receive the message with faith and accept Him into our hearts. Or like Herod, we can choose to reject the Savior and go our own way. He stands with open arms waiting. If you have never come, you can, with simple faith, walk into those loving arms and know that you will spend eternity with Him. If you have already come, you can rejoice with a heart overflowing with gratitude.

Thank You Father for sending Your beloved Son to pay the penalty for my sins. Thank You Lord Jesus for choosing to come. Such amazing love. This, dear friends, is Christmas.

Yes, because of what this holiday really represents we need to be in a worshipful attitude. That can be hard with so much going on, so I cut down on what I have going on, too much stuff is not worth what it diminishes from our focus.
