Unwrap the Gift
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.โ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
โGlory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!โ”
~ Luke 2:11-14 (ESV)
When I went through our old Christmas pictures I found the cutest photo of our son unwrapping a gift from his Opa. He was all involved ripping off the paper to see what was inside. Although he was only 18 months, he didn’t reject the wonderful gift he had received. He only got a little upset with his dad taking the picture and interrupting his unwrapping ๐ .
It reminded me of how we sometimes reject a gift; we just don’t want to unwrap it because we think there is a catch to it. Some of us still reject the free gift that came from heaven. God sent His one and only son to take on human flesh in order for us to be redeemed.
One of my favorite songs this Christmas season has been the song “How Many Kings” by Downhere (you can hear the song here). I just love the words to the chorus:
How many kings step down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
And how many gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that is torn all apart
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
There is only one King, one Lord, one God who gave everything up for us – for a fallen world…Why not unwrap the wonderful gift this Christmas. Give Him your heart – you will never regret it.
Merry Christmas!

If they only knew?
But how will they know unless we go.
Great reminder for us to share the reason we celebrate the season.
Have a great Christmas Iris.
