We Should Never Stop Planting Seeds
I received an email recently from a young lady. The first thing I noticed was the photo she had attached. It was an inspirational journal I had made and given out to several teenage girls. She mentioned that I had given it to her over five years ago and she’d just come across it again right when she needed it.
It was a simple email but it encouraged me more than she’ll ever know. Sometimes we feel the Holy Spirit us leading to do certain things. We put our heart into it and we wonder, did it even matter? Did it touch anyone’s life? As I thought about her email, I was reminded of the parable of the sower and the seed. The sower did his job. He sowed the seed. Not all bore fruit, but some did. He could not predict which ones would bear fruit and neither can we.
3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13:3-8 (NKJV)
We don’t always see the effect of our obedience. We may question whether we are making a difference in anyone’s life by our blog posts, our volunteer work, giving of our resources… is it making an impact? However, while we may wonder about it, we can never stop planting seeds. We must believe that if God gives us a desire to do something, it will have an impact even if we don’t see it.

What a great reminder to never stop sowing seeds. We really don’t know who we reach with our words and actions.
I think it is so neat that she contacted you 🙂
