What Are You Afraid Of?
Even though we are surrounded by safety gadgets, we still live in a world of anxiety and fear. It seems no matter how large of a police force that we form in our communities, there still is crime. It is nearly impossible to erase all fear in our society; if it isn’t the crime, the threat of sickness or the onset of financial ruin may plague us all with intense anxiety.
Fear is nothing new. For as long as I can remember, people have always had something that they are afraid of. Songwriters even wrote about it – in the 1970’s, Jim Croce wrote a song about spiders and snakes, “I don’t like spiders and snakes”. Spiders and snakes are only a few of the phobias that man has.
Our fears in life will keep us right where we are. Not facing our fears head on will keep us at the bottom of the ladder, looking up and wondering what is at the top? If we fear heights, our greatest fear is that one day we will fall. So instead of trusting the ladder, or the spotter at the bottom of the ladder, we just stay clear of climbing ladders.
This is an example of a lack of faith. At some point, we must trust that the ladder can hold us. Likewise, when we put our trust in God for those things that cause us fear and anxiety, we are saying that we don’t know what is at the top but we have faith that He will see us all the way there and He will hold us.
(Matthew 6:34) says, “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
God never promised us a life free of trouble, but what He did promise is that He would never leave us or forsake us. When we fear things to come, our trust is built upon ourselves and not upon God because He has already promised that He holds all of our tomorrows in His Hands.
What are you afraid of? Release your fears to God with this simple prayer…
DEAR GOD: Forgive me for not trusting you. I place all of my fears and anxieties at your feet and with trust and faith, I look forward to tomorrow. Not in my strength but in Yours, whether it be spiders, snakes or ladders, I will overcome my fears! AMEN.
Let me know if you prayed that prayer with me.
BLESSINGS. Laurie

Thank you Laurie for the reminder to trust Him – always. Yes, I have fears, but I know that God is with me all the way. I will release my fears in to His Might Hands.
Amen to that prayer, Laurie. There are some fears that I need to release to God.
