When Plans Change

I know a few people (mostly older) who preface many of their upcoming plans with the two words, “God willing…”

“God willing, we’ll be going on vacation.”  “God willing, I’ll see you tomorrow.”  “God willing, my children will go to college next semester.”

We have our plans, but sometimes God steps in.  This afternoon I was going to take a walk (4 miles) to the store, buy a bike and ride it home.  Then I looked at the weather report.   Last night I was going to come home from my parents’ house and order a few things on line…but a thunderstorm and gone through and we didn’t have electricity!

Yesterday marked the anniversary of my live as a single person.  My life plans changed big-time.

What “God willing” means to me is a willingness on my part to have my plans changed, in favor of God’s plans.  How willing am I to step out of what is comfortable and safe, in order to follow God’s plans.

What “God willing” means is that God does have a plan, it’s not my plan and I may not even know what it is – but God does.

What “God willing” means is that I am willing to trust God with my future, no matter what it brings.

I know this is a short post – hopefully it is food for thought.

Are we truly willing to trust God with our futures?  How do we demonstrate that willingness?

“God willing” In fact, most of time I am searching for ” my willing” and I want the Lord to satisfy my willing.
Thank you very much for sharing this post with us.
I will learn to be “OLD” to say “God Willing” ~_*(s smiling face)

The kids and I were just talking about this–remembering that it is only by His will and in His plans that things happen–not when we decide. 🙂 There is a verse (in Timothy) that instructs us specifically to not say “Tomorrow I will do…” but instead to say, “God willing I will…” which I have been trying to remember and find and have not gotten the wording right enough in the right version to find. He is still teaching me–though I am getting bette.r
