Why do you love the Lord?
“I love the Lord, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1,2
In this Psalm the writer tells us why he loves the Lord. We each would have a different story to tell of how we came to love the Lord and why we love Him today.
We read in Deuteronomy 6:5 to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Jesus even repeats this is Matthew 22:37 when He is asked what is the greatest commandment.
What does that look like? I think there are many aspects of loving the Lord, but one important thing is that if you have that kind of love for Him, others will know. You will want to tell others what He has done for you. As we see in countless Bible stories, when Jesus healed someone the healed person went and told others. The Samaritan woman at the well went to town and told the people what Jesus had told her in John 4. When He raised a dead girl in Matthew 9, the news spread through the region.
Maybe you haven’t had a healing in your life like we read of in the Bible, but I imagine you have your own reasons for loving the Lord. What has He done for you….deliverance from bondage, restored relationships, freedom from fear, courage to try something new, physical healing? He died on the cross for you too; we should always remember that gift.
Because of these reasons and so many others, we love Him and in turn love others.
“We love because He first loved us.” I John 4:19
Show your love of the Lord today by telling others what He has done for you.

What a great message, Bethany. You are right; He has done so much for us that we need to share that with others. I do share as much as I can how He is changing me and my life.
