Worship
The large choir room echoed with the sound of praise. Worship had begun with voices raised in song and ended with hearts overflowing. The silence was filled with a sense of His abiding presence.
Amanda, one of our Music Ministers, prayed over us and then finished with these words:
“God made us beings who seek something to worship.”
It touched something deep in my heart. Had she just said, “God made us beings who worship.” it would not have moved me so powerfully. It was that one little word, “seek.”
We don’t just happen to have things in our lives that we, in essence, worship. There is something inside each of us that looks for something to adore. It is that empty place in our hearts that must be filled, and so we begin to look around for something to satisfy that hunger.
It can be something quite innocent – family, friends, work, service, – things that in and of themselves are good but can never fill that void. Perhaps it is a seeking after the approval of others , that longing to be recognized as someone who has value.
That emptiness can also cause us to turn to things that can only cause great harm to us and those around us – drugs, alcohol, immorality. They may work for a little while, but inevitably the ache returns and the void deepens. It is a place that only God can fill, for He is the one who put it there.
The great miracle is, we don’t have to struggle to find the One who will perfectly fit into that place in our hearts. The One who created the longing is the One who has come to satisfy it. He gave His life that we might have life – full, rich, satisfying, abundant life. We have only to let Him come in and take His rightful place. He waits.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20

So true, Linda. I have tried for years to get the approval of men (women), but that is not necessary. God has approved by sending His Son. He alone is worthy of my worship.
Thank you for sharing from your heart.
Hey Linda, I really appreciated your post. I blogged on the worship theme yesterday too. We were made to worship, it is part of our God given DNA! Great post. Lori
Linda, what a great post on worship! I love the thought of that we all have something in us that we desire to worship. That is so true, my prayer is that I will not have to be prompted to worship my Lord but that it will flow out of me! -Blessings!

“God made us beings who seek something to worship.”
I find those words powerful also Linda and so very true.
Thank you for sharing.
Your heart just radiates with the love of Christ! You are a seeker. It’s no wonder that word — SEEK — resonated with you… 🙂
