Don’t Be a Lip-Syncing Christian

Back in the 1980’s, a major lip-syncing scandal broke loose when the group Milli Vanilli lost their Grammy when it was uncovered that they had not sang one word. It appeared they never even recorded their own album.

You might be surprised at how many other artists have done the same: Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Vanessa Williams, Mariah Carey, Cher and Rascal Flatts, just to mention a few. They all faked us out to some degree.

Faking it is not just something that is familiar with musicians. Many people resort to many tactics in life to fool others. From faking their way to the top of the corporate ladder to faking a smile when their world is crumbling to deceiving others to think that they are something that they are not.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs that God does not think much of dishonesty:

(Proverbs 11:1) “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.”

While musicians may be able to fool their fans and friends and family may fool us from time time, God is NEVER fooled! He knows what is genuine and what is a disguise. He truly sees the facade that many people put on and while some people may be impressed for a season, God is not impressed at all!

If you don’t want to be a fake in a real world, start with these 3 steps:

1. Be real with God.
2. Be real with those around you.
3. Become real to yourself.

TODAY’S PRAYER: “Dear Lord, search my heart and reveal any hypocrisy that is in my heart and mind. Help me to become pure before You and genuine before others, including myself.” AMEN

I hope you prayed that with me today and that the real you will stand up and be counted.

BLESSINGS. Laurie
