Choose Joy
“Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.” ~ Colossians 1:10-12 (emphasis mine)
Over the last two years, work has been stressful. Some days, when I get home I can’t put a single thought together; and on weekends I feel like a zombie. You see, the company I work for purchased several other companies. Although we have had some managers over the past few years, unfortunately they did not stick around. The last one only lasted 3 weeks. Yikes…
With all the acquisitions, and not really having a go-to-manager, the workload has been heavy, and without much direction, stressful to the say the least.
So, how do you deal with stress? For me it is a daily choice; I choose joy. I am in daily contact with our project manager, who is working/living in a different city. We communicate via Skype calls every single day. The wonderful thing working with her is that she also is a believer and follower of Jesus. Last week, I started my day by messaging her #ChooseJoy.
I could stick my head in the sand, or even throw in the virtual towel. However, during these stressful times, I choose joy. I can show others how to deal with stress, and how to be still joyful. You see, I want to honor and please the Lord the way I live and encourage the ones around me.
Currently, one of my favorite songs is “Joy” by For King & Country. It has become some sort of anthem for me. When it comes on the radio, I turn it up, and sing at the top of my lungs with them “choose joy…let it move you”
Lord of Heaven and Earth; when stress gets to me, I choose joy. You are the giver and source of my JOY. May I remember this every single day. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Wonderful reminder for all the stresses in our life that joy may not change our situation but it will change our attitude!
Exactly, Laurie. It does not change the situation, but how we look at things.
Joy makes the ungodly want to find out what we have!
I think if we trust Him to see us through, we can point to Him without words.
Love this, Iris. I’m trying to choose joy daily also.
His joy is the only thing that keeps me going these days, Bernadine.
