Breathe…

As my grandson continued eating his lunch I said “I am going to give W his bottle and then put him down for his nap then I will come back out here and we can watch something or play.” He looked at me and said “Breathe, Mom-mom, breathe.” I burst out laughing. I knew he had heard that from his mom but his delivery and timing were perfect. It was wise words from a three year old with an echo from my Heavenly Father – breathe, Ann, breathe.

“At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 25-30

There are times when the pace of life is crazy but I also know from personal experience that there are times when I added things to my to do list that were not mine to do. In simplest terms – I did it to myself. For me this is especially true in the church. In the past I took on various responsibilities and projects that were not mine to take on. I “stole” the blessing from someone else. I have learned that when I do the things God has for me to do it is a whole different ballgame. Oh, there are still times of controlled chaos but there is rest, there is room to breathe.
My prayer is that you would learn faster than I that “his yoke is easy and his burden is light.”
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message

Breathe. Love it! Thanks for these words of wisdom – a reminder to breathe – to come away and rest – to not take the blessing away from the person who God intended it to be for.
