He cares!

There was a long to do list I’d made in preparation for our son’s fifth birthday. Besides getting things ready for the party at the park, we were also having lunch for our family back at our house. On Sunday before the party I was talking to my husband about all the things we needed to do in the coming days. I told him I hadn’t even planned on calling the carpet cleaner. In previous years before his birthday party I’d schedule an appointment for our living room carpet to be cleaned as it always had several spots. I realized I hadn’t even thought about doing that this year and told my husband I was okay with that. With the other stuff that needed to be done during the week, I wasn’t going to worry about trying to do that too.
Monday morning the phone rang, and it was our neighbor. He told me they were renting a carpet cleaner and wondered if we’d like to use it before they return it. It took me a second to realize what he was asking. We agreed they could bring it over when they were finished with their carpets. I emailed my husband and asked if he’d want to do our carpets himself that night.
This really took me by surprise. I wasn’t worried about not having the carpets cleaned for the party. But for the neighbors to offer the machine for our use in the perfect timing right before the party was just amazing to me. I told my Mom it felt like an answer to prayer I really don’t even think I prayed.
This showed me that God does care. In I Peter we read, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (I Peter 5:7)
The little things that are on our minds that don’t even seem relevant or significant to the big picture DO matter to Him. He knows our hearts, our every longing, every desire. He wants us to bring our requests to Him, but it is comforting to be reminded that He knows our wants and needs. All the things that matter to us also matter to Him. Give Him your worries today. He cares!

Beautiful post. You know it’s those little things that add up to big things. Because like you said it’s not something you even really prayed about but the Lord loves us so much that HE cares about the little things and wants to bless us.
