Chasing a Rock Chair

The Stop, Look and Listen Girl is at it again. For those of you who don’t know that’s my nickname. God speaks to me through what I see and hear, if and when I look and listen. I often capture a picture of His message and share it online. This week’s message was loud and clear.

On Tuesday while I ran errands, I felt compelled to turn around and drove a mile in the opposite direction to find this semi truck. I needed a picture of this rocking chair because God was speaking.

First I remembered this quote: “Worry is like a rocking chair–it gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.”

Back n’ forth. Back n’ forth. Back n’ forth.

My worry wasn’t getting me anyway, except more stressed.

Then God gently reminded me of His Word.

Do not worry…

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)

Later that evening a precious friend texted me a love note. I replied with thanks. Her second text said this:

“Sometimes we just need to snuggle in and let Him rock us slowly and gently.”

I knew then I chased that truck for a deeper reason. Yes, I needed to remember my worrying wasn’t getting me anywhere. But more than that, I needed the reminder of God’s love. To snuggle in, rock back n’ forth, and let my Papa love me.

God allowed me to see this rocking chair and chase it down because He knew hours later a friend’s words would pop out and I would understand the full message He wanted to speak to my heart.

May I speak that message to your heart today?

Sweet friend, do not worry. No sense in rocking and getting nowhere. But sometimes we just need to snuggle in and let God rock us slowly and gently. Please let Him love you more today. God is waiting for you to come, His chair is wide open.
