Father I just praise your name…

Sometimes our walk with the Lord is smooth and easy. You feel like you are walking hand in hand. And sometimes you feel like you are griping onto His arm for dear life, promising you will never leave Him; you will not get off track.

Me: Father I feel like I am struggling here. Nothing major has happened in my life, but I feel myself getting off track.

God: just praise.

Me: Father help me to love you unconditionally, help me to see only you.

God: just praise me.

Each morning when I woke up I had a different song in my heart. I woke up singing a song, and it was not even a song I had listened to recently.

  • “Blessed Be your Name Lord”
  • “.. another day with you is sweeter…”
  • The Lord is my strength and my song,
    and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2

Father thank you for reminding me, when I feel down in the dumps, when I feel like I am being picked on, and things are not going my way, I can just stop what I am doing and praise your name. Father I will sing your praises, I will bow down and worship your name. No matter what is going on around me, I praise your name. I love you Jesus.

It seems like I have that feeling weekly. *sigh*
I love that song—the contemporary version is in my head but I can’t recall who sings it.

Have a nice weekend, Laurel. 🙂

      Oh Laurel.

I love your conversation with God. Be encouraged my sister and I am praising right along with you… 🙂

Yes, praise puts things in the proper perspective, doesn’t it? Those big, looming things become much smaller. “The things of earth become strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”

      Great post.

I so love to keep worship CD’s in easy reach in my ‘prayer closet’…when my thought processes start getting chaotic I am able to just sing my heart out in praise…works every time doesn’t it????

Oh Laurel. This is such truth and wisdom. In the very darkest hour of my life, when I just didn’t even know how to pray, the Lord led me to scripture that told me to do exactly what you’ve said “Praise”. My situation did not change. I didn’t even get the answer my heart was crying out for- but something inside me changed. There was peace where I never thought it would be possible – end eventually there was even joy. Thank you so much for this beautiful devotional.

Praising Him with you, Laurel…You know – I wake up with a different song in my head every morning — it is thrilling…Lately I feel ‘used’ by the people around me, but than I remember that I do everything to His glory and not to receive praises from ‘men’…

Blessings on your day and always…

Awesome Laurel! I too, love to listen to P&W music. Music has always been a part of my life but even more so as a believer.

Isn’t it awesome when God whispers in your ear? Just enjoy this stage of the journey and keep praising Him. Maybe it’s just a part of where He wants to take you.

Laurel- If you get a chance, you should read Living Worship by John Randall Dennis…it’s the best book about our worship and how our words are living and have meaning. The first point is Worship has nothing to do with our circumstances. WOW. (I started learning the lesson before reading the book.) Think of how life would be if we worshipped him instead of asking him “WHY ME? WHY NOW? WHY THIS?” Don’t allow flesh to take control….Go girl! Go praise Him!
