God’s Perfect Will

And do not be conformed to this world,

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,

that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:2

I spent a lot of time when I was younger asking God what His will was for my life and wondering why He never answered me with a clear, well drawn out, long term plan. Now, as I turn and look back over the years, I see His plan was there all the time. It was written out in the living of each day, the trusting Him by faith and walking with Him daily as He led me by His Spirit and His word.

I had hoped His will for me would be something grand and amazing, something that would make a difference in this world – something important. But I was looking for that “something” that “importance” in the wrong form. I didn’t recognize it as it truly was (His ways are not my ways – Isaiah 55:8-9). His will for my life was written in each step of obedience as I sought to follow Him where ever He might lead. His plan for my life, and every life, is to trust Him with the next step and to obey what He asks us to do.

I wish I had known this back then, perhaps I would have spent more time focused on living for Him today and less worrying about tomorrow. He has taught me from then to now a long learned lesson. That there has never been, or ever will there be, a higher calling than to trust Him and obey. To have a lifetime of obedience and doing His will requires us to obey one day at a time, one step at a time; this is His will for every single life. You don’t need to fret about missing His plan for your life if you trust Him every day to lead you.

There will never be perfection this side of heaven, but we can make our steps on the journey there count by seeking His good and perfect will today.

Sojourner with you,

Charlotte

I think all of us did the same thing when we were younger and maybe when we first accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we wanted to do something spectacular for His Kingdom. But nothing is more spectacular than living a constant, loving, giving and devoted life for Him day by day, Blessings Gloria

Very wise words Charlotte. I believe if we trust God and obey as He leads us day by day we ARE making a difference in the lives of those around us and those God brings across our path. We may not know the full impact of that difference until we get to glory. Excellent devotion.

So true, Charlotte. Sometimes we miss His will for us by searching, but to trust Him where He leads us is the part of His will.

    Thank you for the encouragement.
