Is My Dream Still Relevant?
I was looking through notes that had written years ago about something I was quite passionate about. I had detailed notes and plans about how I was going to get it done. Somewhere along the way I got discouraged and put it aside. It’s not that I lost my passion for it, I simply couldn’t see any way of making it happen. However, I’ve kept the binder with the notes for several years because deep in my heart I didn’t want to give up on the possibility of one day looking at it with new eyes and purpose.
As I looked through my notes I started to think about products already out there similar to what I had in mind. In my mind they seemed polished and well put together. Although this dream still tugs at my heartstrings I couldn’t see what I want to do coming close to measuring up. I whispered a quiet prayer, “God is this still relevant?”
Do you feel that way sometimes? As if your dreams are no longer relevant? After all there are so many different flashier, well executed, beautifully packaged version of your dream already out there.
God has given each of us gifts that He wants us to us for his glory. We often develop dreams and goals around these gifts. The enemy’s plan is always to make us feel as if what we do doesn’t measure up or isn’t even relevant. However, if it still tugs at your heart, still draws your attention, still makes you pick it up every time you put it down… it’s still relevant.
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
Don’t give up. Keep working at that dream one step at a time. The last time you tried may not have been God’s timing. Maybe this is the time that it will all come together.
