Joy to the World, the Lord is come

Joy to the World, the Lord is come!  Let earth receive her King…

It still amazes me that the most vivid Christmases in my mind are those of my childhood.  I pull them out ever year, the Christmas of yesteryear and reminisce about the childhood wonder and joy the season brought.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas songs like Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Come All Ye Faithful echoed rang out in my church. They also echoed through the community as we went caroling from door to door.  Because of this, I developed a love for the hymns long before I knew what they meant.

While Christmas today is a little different from the Christmases of my childhood, my love for Christmas carols remain. Joy to the World is one of my favorites.  I still sing it loudly with gusto but now also with meaning.

Let every heart prepare Him room, And Heaven and nature sing,

Let every heart prepare Him room…I’m so glad that today my Lord, Savior, My King has a place of honor in my heart and my life.

I love this children’s version of Joy to the World. It took me back to my childhood.

Merry Christmas everyone!
