Knock-Knock

Who’s there?  Sorry.  I couldn’t resist.

Every time I have passed this church, I have longed to stop a few minutes.  But I was always in a hurry, heading to work, running errands, or back home.

A few weeks ago my friend, Connie and I took a little trip about an hour away to do some quick errands and have a bit of fellowship, “catching up” with one another in what God has been up to in our respective lives.  He’s been up to some mighty awesome things in my friend’s life.

As we completed one errand, and before going on to the next, I remembered these doors.  I wanted her to see them.  She appreciates the rare beauty found in these doors as much as I do.

I’m in awe every time I look at them, but now, after hearing God’s voice in my heart that day in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, I will never look at these doors, or any church doors the same.

When I remembered at all the little lives, that so desperately wanted to be “let in” to the church–and even the Child Development Center, some could–yet others could not, it tears at my heart afresh.  As one young boy made several attempts to enter in, being turned down each time, my heart broke.

It was then my heart heard That familiar Voice.

“You will never stand outside my door and want to come in and be denied.” As tears spilled down my cheeks, these words from Luke came back to mind.

So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.  For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.”  Luke 11:9-10 Amplified Version

What was Jesus saying to us?

Persist.

Don’t give up.

If you are hungry, don’t stop asking until you are filled.  If your heart is thirsty for His presence, don’t stop seeking until you overflow like a river running over it’s boundaries!

He will open the doors and windows of heaven and rain down on your persistent heart more than you can imagine.  He’s just waiting on us.

Ask.

Seek.

Knock.

The little boy was persistent.  His persistence paid off. He entered in and was filled with all that they had to give!  You do the same.

Jesus is waiting….just on the other side of the door.

What a neat post Angie. Grand doors fascinate me as well, this picture reminded me of the St. Peters Basilica we toured in Rome … the entry doors are massive and breathtaking. But you are right, as wonderful as the doors appear, what is beyond the door (spiritually speaking) is even more wonderful. 🙂

This is so moving Angie. I keep hearing the word “seek.” I long to be a passionate seeker. Knowing He is there, making Himself available draws me to seek.
