Life Is a Cycle

Raindrops-edit

As we did our Ecclesiastes study, I thought about life and it hit me. Life is hard and life is easy for everyone, not just me. It seems to be smooth sailing for awhile and then out of nowhere you’re shipwrecked. It seems you’re sinking and you can’t find a life saver anywhere in sight. Then, just when you don’t think you will make it, you’re safe again. If one thing has stood out this past couple of years it’s this: life is a cycle and it has seasons. So the question is, what do we do with these cycles and seasons?

We have no clue how long each season will last. It could be a short or long one. It could be a hard or easy one. One things for sure, it will pass. You will survive if the Master of the seas guides you. When I was growing up, I always dreamed of having the perfect life. You know, where nothing bad ever happens to me or the ones I loved. I would grow up, get married, and sail through life with no problems because I was His child. Thankfully, I matured through the years or I would have been knocked off my feet to never get back up again. I would have lost my faith in God when horrible things struck in my life. If you feel that way, just know that He has a plan for the pain and the joy.

Life isn’t a straight line to be lived wishing for perfection. Life is messy. It’s beautiful and it’s not always easy. It’s a cycle. We go through things, sometimes, over and over in our lives. It’s what we learn from it that makes the difference. Are we always blaming God or someone else for these trials? Or do we seek to grow and learn from it all, even the bad? Hard seasons don’t necessarily mean we’re in trouble, it can be a refining season for us. We can learn something from every single thing that happens to us and our loved ones. Pain can cling to our heart and bitterness can began to grow in us. We may never know it until He begins to break that clay again, molding us, shaping us, and showing us the cracks He wants to fix. After all, He did form us in our Mother’s womb and He knows how to mold us better than anyone else.

When I began to look at life as a cycle rather than a straight line, it really helped me deal with trails and struggles. What is it that He is trying to show me? Or what have I done that’s offended God? So I am trying to let Him show me and mold me. I encourage you to let Him in, all the way in. Hold nothing back from the Master because He wants to make a beautiful masterpiece with His stamp on it. When seasons aren’t so joyful. all we can do is pray, press through, and let Him mold us.

Father, oh how awesome You are! You love us enough to rid us of the ugliness in our lives. You desire that we be a beautiful piece of pottery that You can pour into, so we may pour You out to others. You are so good to us. Help us to be willing to let You mold us and take us through the refiner’s fire. Help us to remember that life is a cycle and it has seasons. They may be good or bad, but they’re to teach us. Give us the attitude that You desire each day so we may glorify Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
