Not Good Enough

Do you ever look at projects you’ve completed and tell yourself that it’s not good enough or doesn’t measure up? I sadly admit that I suffer with this condition. I work hard on something and then I become my worst critic and pick it apart. This is something I’ve struggled to overcome for a long time. There are times when I ignore the voice of my inner critic and forge ahead. However, there are times when sadly, I listen.  I don’t proceed with projects that I’m excited about because inside I’m hearing, “Not good enough.”

God often does His best transformation in the lives of those who didn’t think they were enough but who opened their hearts and lives to Him anyway. Becoming His Dream Girl

The above quote is from my book, Becoming His Dream Girl. I quoted it because it’s one of those projects that I worked on and then abandoned repeatedly because I thought, “Not good enough.” The quote is about Gideon whose story starts in Judges 6.  Like many of us he listened to the voices that told him, “You’re not good enough.” I love the story of Gideon because it shows his transformation from someone who didn’t think he was good enough to a leader who allowed God to use him mightily.

Does this ever happen to you? What do you do to encourage yourself to not listen to the voice of the enemy? I’m trying to remind myself to,

23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23 (NLT)

If you’d like to win a copy of my book, Becoming His Dream Girl, comment below and I’ll enter your name in the drawing. It’s a book for young ladies but I think it has content that women of all ages can relate to. Check back under this post next Monday evening to see if you won. I am so glad He made us “good enough” and more. I am God’s creation, bought by Christ’s sacrifice, justified or brought up to God’s standard by His atonement. What a great message for girls who face so much today! Thank you.
