One Way

Busy making dinner, heading to the grocery store for your last minute items.
Running into school to pick up your child, you have a meeting in 30 mins.
Waiting in line to purchase your fast food.
Family gathering with many non-Christians around you.

I heard it said, “every conversation you have, you have the opportunity to turn it towards God.” As a Mom we don’t think we have much of a witness because we are busy raising our children. As a career woman we are drowning in paper work and with this market struggling to retain our employment, or as a retiree we don’t get out as much as we use to. There was an article that stated,

57 percent of evangelical church attenders said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life, in conflict with traditional evangelical teaching.

In all, 70 percent of Americans with a religious affiliation shared that view, and 68 percent said there is more than one true way to interpret the teachings of their own religion.(conducted last year by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life)

That is OVER half of the Americans here in the United States (this does not include our Canadian friends or others overseas).

First my message is to the people who have already been saved by grace. Have we lost our urgency? I suggest that many of us have forgot what it means to be “lost.” Myself included, please understand everything I write the Lord is convicting me also. We come across new people almost every day, in the grocery store, at school, in our place or employment. If there are 68% percent who believe there is more than one way to Christ, I can almost guarantee you, you have met one of them.

We don’t need to be forceful in our message. Wasn’t it just the other day, you were just like them? And the only difference now is Christ. The Lord has shown me in the last few months, that it is ONLY through his grace I have anything good in me.

Let me make this clear, there is the ONLY ONE WAY to Christ.

1. None of us are perfect, I am a sinner, and you have sinned also. No one is perfect. Romans 3:23 states that we are all sinners. There are three types of sins: first, the wrong that we do; second, the good we fail to do; thirdly, the worst sin of all, the rejection of God.

2. When we work, we expect the wages that we deserve. Romans 6:23 states that the wages of our sin, the sin we listed in number 1, is death. That is what we deserve.

3. Christ makes the gift he gives us free. WE DON’T DO A THING. Have you ever been given a gift and had it rejected? Or have you purchased a gift but accidentally set it on the counter only to forget to give the gift? Either way, it is not called a gift until someone receives it, and receives it freely.

4. How do we receive God’s forgiveness? We believe with our heart and we act on what we believe. I can believe that eating healthy is good for me, but it is not until I actually do it that it will prove beneficial to me. So you have to believe and then act.

5. Lastly, Romans 10:13 says EVERYONE who calls on the Lord (no matter what you have done) will be saved. Also 1 John 1:9 reminds us of his faithfulness to forgive. No and’s, if’s, or but’s.

If you are one of the 68% who believes being a good person or having a list of good attributes helps you get into heaven, it is clearly stated in John 14:6:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

If you are part of the 57 percent of evangelical church attenders who said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life. Please, please, don’t take my word STUDY THE BIBLE. Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY!

My prayers is that you never have to utter the words, “but I did not know.” And as Christians saved by grace we need the urgency back. We are not responsible for non-Christians response to Christ, but it is our job that the decision is presented to them.

Heavenly Father, give us Jesus eyes and help us see the opportunity we have with every conversation. Thank you for sending your son to die on the cross for our sins and offering the gift of salvation freely to all who receive it. Amen.

I totally agree with you, Laurel.

It’s sad that our nation has confused religion and relationship.

Thank you for speaking your mind.

    God Bless.

Amen to that, Laurel. I have seen many polls that even Christians believe that there more than just one way to heaven…kind of sad. Makes me think: 1. either the Gospel is not preached in some churches or 2. people are not listening or 3. (like you mentioned) the Bible is not read….

Thank you Laurel for putting it out there that there is only one way to heaven…

Amen. That seems to be the prevailing sentiment these days. Both Oprah and Obama have said there are “many ways” while claiming to be Christians. I don’t know how they missed John 14:6.

I would qualify your one sentence “Romans 10:13 says EVERYONE (no matter what you have done) will be saved” by adding that Romans 10:13 says that everyone who calls on the Lord will be saved. I know that’s what you meant, but at a cursory glance one might get the wrong idea.

You are so right, the time is at hand and we need to share the gospel with anyone and everyone. We can include Him in every conversation in some way. We need to inpsire people to think about Him and about their lost condition and the remedy for that condition. Thanks for sharing THE truth….too many are saying thier is more than one way…He is THE only way. Blesssings on your week.

Thank you, Laurel, for the passion in your heart for God’s Truth. His name is Jesus and you have eloquently defended your faith this day.

It is so good to be reminded of the truth of the Word of God Laurel. I think we have become far too concerned with being “tolerant” to the point where the message of the gospel becomes diluted. You have said it all so clearly. There is only one way!

    Hi Laurel,

I am with you… Where is our urgency??? Oh that the passion for Christ would be born fresh in every believer and they would read His word.

    Awesome Post. Love you…. Hugs~
