Remembering the Heroes

It is really hard to believe that we are embarking on the 9 year anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy. All of us can remember exactly where we were on that dreadful day. I remember it was a normal day for me … after dropping the children off at school, I was driving down the highway, going to work, when the news flashed across the radio. The twin towers hit by a plane, Americans killed. I could not believe it!

In just a blink of an eye, what seemed like a normal day, just turned into a catastrophic day! That day thrust Americans into a new depth of “red alert” danger and fear.

Isn’t that exactly what the enemy hopes to do to us?

John 10:10-11 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

During the 9-11 tragedy, we saw all types of shepherds (protectors) come to the aid of our Country. Policemen, firemen, paramedics, emergency teams, etc. All of these departments are important and hats off to those men and women who gave their lives 9 years ago in their line of duty, they will never be forgotten for their sacrifice.

Another Shepherd that gave an extreme sacrifice is Jesus. Do you know how precious and loved you are? He loves you so much that He protects you from the hungry predator that comes to kill, steal and destroy. Each and every day, He protects you from unseen danger.

As we approach the memory of 9-11, I remember the heroes of that day. I also take time to give thanks and honor to the ulitmate  Hero … Jesus Christ, for His protection and peace!

May we never forget the sacrifices made for our protection.

It’s amazing how nine years went by so fast. And yet, we must not forget this tragic day. I’ve been to the site twice since the attack and it was very eerie to see that huge hole. Many lives were lost that day. But how true your words are Laurie. Jesus is our protection and peace, no matter what.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

Oh Laurie…we must never forget those shocking, horrific moments of 9-11.
There are so many shepherds here on earth..those in uniform and in plainclothes, that are never thanked or honored enough for their sacrifice. May our country turn to our Great Shepherd protect us and guide us as a country.
    Beautiful post….
    Hugs,
    Lynn?

September 11 is a day that changed the way we think about our lives in America. So often we had felt protected, even isolated from the violence of war in the world. But, on that day, things changed and our eyes were opened. I pray that the lives that were lost on that awful day were not in vain…and that through this terrible tragedy, many people turned to the Lord.

    Thank you for remembering.

    Living for Him, Joan
