Spiritual Battles
After reading Revelation for my morning Bible time, I began to plan for Sunday school. Why, oh why, do I always get the lessons about casting out demons? This time it was when the Legion of demons had inhabited a man to the point where he was naked, crazy and living in the tombs. Really kid-friendly stuff. I mean, that’s an image that could haunt your dreams if you pondered it too long. How in the world could I make this a GOOD story instead of a scary one?
How about if we focus on the END of the story instead of the beginning or the middle? No matter what happened in the past (no matter what terrors you’ve seen or what horrible memories you might have)….no matter what is happening right now (the tragedies of daily life, the imperfect of the seen)…there is another reality.
There is a reality of the UNSEEN. We may see the mess the devil has created and the lives destroyed by sin, but God sees the battles raged on our behalf. We might imagine angels with halos, sweet smiles and fluttering wings, but the Bible says they are fierce beings, carrying swords and fighting for our freedom. No matter what battle we face right now, we do not face it alone. Just like Elijah asked for God to open the eyes of his servant to see the army of angels, may we have our eyes opened.
So, the end of the story? In the end, we know that all evil will be thrown into the lake of fire. Jesus has POWER over evil and Jesus will triumph over all evil. Basically, we know the end of the story. We know WHO wins!
Whatever you are facing right now, just know that God has surrounded you with His angels to watch over you and fight for you. And no matter what it seems like, He WILL win the battle.

Isn’t it great to know that God already won the battle for us? Thank you for the reminder, Heather.
