Strong & Courages

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
(Joshua 1:9 ESV)

Life does not always go as we hope; at least that is true for me. As I had shared over the last three months on my personal blog, it has taken 8 years for me to see my family. I am finally going home in three weeks to hug my mom, sister, niece, nephew and the rest of my family in Germany.

Many times have I thought that God forgot my prayers to go home to Germany. But looking back over the past eight years, God knew what was best for me. His timing is always perfect (even though it is hard to be patient waiting on His answer).

There have been other dreams and hopes that I had almost buried. But then I came across the above verse in Joshua 1:9. God’s people had wandered the desert for over 40 years. His faithful (and sometimes not so faithful) servant Moses never made it into the Promised Land. Now Joshua was the leader of God’s people. God reminded Joshua that He made a promise to Moses and that Joshua needed to trust Him for the future. He said “Do not be frightened…”

Joshua is my favorite Old Testament hero; he always trusted God. No matter what God wanted Him to do, he followed His lead. Joshua lead the people in to the Promised Land with God’s guidance; he marched around Jericho as God commanded. Joshua’s life is amazing; I encourage you to read the entire book of Joshua and I pray that it will inspire you as much as has inspired me.

I want the faith Joshua had; trusting in the valleys and on the mountaintop the God who gave me life in Christ Jesus. I want to trust God even when my road winds and I don’t know where the journey leads. I want to believe like Joshua that God has a purpose for my life. I want to honor my Lord with my life in everything I do.

Lord of Heaven and Earth. Thank you for Your promise to be with me wherever I go. No matter if the road is smooth or if it winds. I want to honor You with my life and trust Your lead. I am grateful for given Your Son to die for me so that I am truly free. I am trusting in Your mercy for the rest of my earthly life. In Jesus’ name ~ Amen.

Love & peace,
Iris
