The Power of Grace

A few years ago I was looking for some quiet time while I was volunteering at my church’s day care. The place I found was in the balconey overlooking the sanctuary. It was about this time of year and everything was decorated for the season.

The centerpiece of the platform was a giant wreath hanging from the ceiling. It was only from the angle that I was looking at it that it was clear.

From my seat in the balconey, looking down at the platform, not up like most people would have been looking – it was so very clear.

The wreath, celebrating the birth of our Lord, perfectly encircled the stained glass cross in the front wall.

The power of God’s grace sent Jesus to be born. His first resting place was in a borrowed cave. To the world, His birth was nothing special. But to the angels that were announcing the event to the shepherds – it was special.

Jesus was born so that He could die. He tasted death so that we may have eternal life. That is the power of grace.

The power of God’s grace sent Jesus to die. His final (human) resting place was also a borrowed cave. To the world, His death was nothing special. But to those who believe, it is life.

The power of God’s grace sends us each year to a child in a stable, a baby in a manger. He didn’t come here because we’re so good. He came here because He is so good.

This is the power of grace.

beautiful. It always humbles me- when I get so caught up in things that I want- that my Lord was homeless for most of his life, had nowhere to lay His head. And who am I to want so much? Last night at Awana, we made cross ornaments and I told the kids the same thing: He came to die. Indescribable love!

When I take time to really comprehend grace, I am blown away. It is because He is so good. This is lovely! Blessings to you my friend, Lynn
