Thirsty? Hungry? Not Satisfied?

God, you are my God. I search for you. I thirst for you like someone in a dry, empty land where there is not water.

I have seen you in the Temple and have seen your strength and glory. Because your love is better than life, I will praise you. I will praise you as long as I live. I will lift up my hands in prayer to your name.” Psalm 63:1-4 NCV

Do you find yourself “thirsty” for more of God? Sometimes we sense an empty feeling, or a void in ourselves. We stumble around and try and fill it with stuff that has no place in a Christian’s life.

We fill it with “junk”. Clothes, when we have a closet full,– CD’s and Movies, that we wouldn’t dare watch or listen to with our family (keep in mind that everything we “see and hear” the Lord does as well), due to the content and/or language.

We won’t mention the games and accessories to those games that we seem to keep buying, but yet don’t have enough money for missions.

Let’s not forget “fuel”…you know….that liquid gold that we must to have to transport us to those places that we know better than to go!

Yet we stuff…..we cram….we go….we buy….we continually try and fill our lives with things that does not satisfy the true longing in our hearts. All the while Jesus looks on….wondering what it will take to get our eyes off of “things” and on to the “real matters of the heart”. Life in Him. Everlasting. Ever filling. Complete.

So, think about it.

  • What are the unnecessary things in your life?
  • Do you see things in your own life that you could really do without?
  • Do you have problems or things that you really need to “turn over to Him”?

I promise you, once you completely turn it to Him, you will be like the Psalmist David….you will lift up your voice in praise to the Lord…continually. His praise will flow from your heart and mouth! He will be glorified by your life!

Seek Him. Praise Him. Bless His Holy Name!

Amen to that Angie. We do often purchase things that we really don’t need (well, it is true for me). I really try to not waste what He has given to me. Thank you for the reminder that only He can truly satisfy.

How easy it is to fill up on JUNK instead of what really satisfies; JESUS.

    Well said Angie!

    Blessings and love,

Amazing how we have to do this continually, Angie. There’s one area of my life that I continuously struggle with. I have to keep praying and reminding myself I can’t fix this. Only God can. It’s not easy to keep my eyes on Him in this area, but I know that’s the only way I will persevere. 🙂
    Hugging you!
