Trusting God with It All
“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)
As we are heading toward Easter 2019, I cannot help but think about Jesus, what He went through, to make us whole with God. He was not deterred by anything or anyone; not even by His own thoughts and agony.
Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will”.
Matthew 26:38-39
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.” A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and he held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
John 19:28-30
How often do we want to add to the finished work of Jesus? There is nothing we can add or subtract from His work on the cross.
Here is another thought: I often want to control the outcome of things. As you may know, my husband’s health is not the best. We are now waiting to be approved for a needed surgery. Years ago, I would have wrung my hands, and feel sick to my stomach facing these kinds of things. However, as I am getting older, I put my trust in the Lord with every little thing and detail of our future. I trust the Lord with my salvation, so I can entrust Him with the rest of our lives.
Lord of heaven and earth. Thank You for You love, grace, and mercy. Mostly, I am thankful for the salvation that You are offering through Jesus Christ. Lord, help me to let go of the things that are not in my control. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Iris, waiting is the hardest thing for us to do but when we have the peace of God, we have a reassurance that it will all work out. We must trust His plan. Prayers for you and your husband today.
Thank you so much, Laurie.
I will be praying for your husband and for you. I think it is easier to endure sickness ourselves than to watch those we love face it. You are right, though, those of us who have worked hard all our lives like control. We are accustomed to “handling things.” It is hard to “be still and know ” He IS God. But we learn.
Thank you so much, Luwana.
I’m praying for you and your husband, Iris. Waiting isn’t easy but knowing that you can trust God in your waiting makes it more bearable.
Yes is hard to wait; thank you for your prayers.
